This is a photograph of the "Miracle on Ice." An USA team composed of amateur and collegiate players beat the long-dominant and heavily-favored Soviet Union, in a match held on February 22, 1980, in Lake Placid, New York during the 1980 Winter Olympics. They later went on to the win the Gold Medal beating Sweden 4-2. The USA was seeded seventh in the competition and was not expected to compete. They proved everyone wrong and pulled one of the biggest upsets ever.
