This piece showcases a glimpse of the club's latest Bronx stomping grounds, the new Yankee Stadium, set to open its doors for the 2009 campaign. The piece symbolizes the transition from "old to new" as the Yankee mystique moves across the street to pursue a 27th World Series Title.
A Fixture at the Original Yankee Stadium (1923-2008), the centerfield bleachers, commonly referred to as “The Black,” served two distinct purposes. Located directly behind the pitcher’s back, “The Black” functioned as batter’s eye, providing contrast against the white baseball for purposes of hitting. Secondly, it served as a target for some of the most mammoth home runs in Yankee Stadium history.
This 11x14 framed photo collage features a graphic overlay and description on the history of “The Black” from the Original Yankee Stadium and comes with an authentic game-used piece of Yankee Stadium black bleacher.
